CALLEJERO.

Callejero doesn't translate exactly. It means a street person but without the insult. In Spanish it's more neutral — someone who knows the streets, moves easily through public spaces, who belongs to sidewalks like others belong to offices. That's the stance of this series.

The photos were taken in cities, barrios, and border towns across the Southwest — during ordinary hours when nothing dramatic happens but everything worth seeing does. These moments don't shout. They ask you to slow down and notice.

The series is based on the idea that documentary photography is truest when it's patient, not hunting. The best shots come from being present, from staying long enough to stop feeling like a stranger. Callejero is an ongoing practice of that attention.
